Dental Health Week Oz – Diet

Australian Dental Health Week runs from the 6th to the 12th of August. The week is organised by the Australian Dental Association and this year the mission is to educate Australians that tooth decay in children and adults is entirely preventable. 50% of Aussie kids now suffer from tooth decay hence the theme for the week is “Lets Stop the Rot”.   Seeing as its a good cause which we fully support, we will be blogging about the issues raised by the campaign this week. All-on-4 implants reviewed

All on 4 implants are a new product from dental implant manufacturer Nobel Biocare. It allows for a full bridge of teeth to be placed on 4 dental implants. In addition an immediately loaded full arch prosthetis is then placed on the implants. Larger implants are placed at an angle in the jaw, this provides a bigger anchor for the dental bridge and increases the amount of implant that can fuse with the jaw bone, thus enabling four implants to support a full bridge.   The advantages of the “All-on-4″ technique include: It is cheaper than having a full compliment of dental implants, or even 8 or 10 implants supporting a dental bridge, fitted. Advantages of implants

An article on WorlDental.org discusses the advantages of dental implants. It lists aesthetics, avoiding bone loss and gum degeneration, less maintenance, high success rate and long lifetime. It is worth mentioning re the success rate that although a 90% success rate seems low. The reason most operations are not successful is because of poor bone quality and bone density. Dental Implant Advisory in Budapest

DIA is in Budapest this week where we are meeting with some of the top implant specialists in Hungary. It is very interesting to hear what they have say and we are confident in the surgeons we have met and their commitment to top class treatment. The prices seem a little higher than we expected but the quality is definitely higher!! Definitely some good options here. Very impressed with Budapest aswell. Beautiful city but bloody hot!!
