Nobel Biocare

Nobel Biocare was founded in Sweden in 1981. The company is now headquartered in Geneva and listed on the Swiss stock exchange. The company turned over €569m in 2011 and has more than 2,400 employees. Production takes place at seven sites located in Canada, Israel, Japan, Sweden, and the US. Its four main products are its crowns and bridges, abutments and overdenture bars, implant systems and computer aided design packages.

Nobel Biocare dental implants are produced from chemically unchanged variants of commercially pure titanium. Its range of implants come in two drilling protocols – parallel and tapered. Parallel is the most versatile drilling protocol, enabling fewer drilling steps in common indications and offering a passive fit in dense bone. Also, it can enhance stability in soft bone when under-preparation is possible. Tapered dental implants follow an easy-to-use, step-by-step drilling protocol. Surgical kits are logically and simply structured and drilling is the same for all indications.

The company produces four distinct implant systems:

  • Branemark implants are a modernised version of the first implant systems developed by Per-Ingvar Branemark. They are certainly tried and tested after 40 years of clinical testing. They contain self-cutting parallel-walled implants which are better for use in dense bones.
  • NobelActive offers exceptional primary stability – even in compromised bone situations. It is particularly suited for use in the esthetic zone. And thanks to its ability to redirect during insertion, it provides clinicians with maximum placement flexibility.
  • NobelReplace is Nobel Biocares’ most popular implant system. NobelReplace provides a versatile and easy to use implant system for the clinician. It is a predictable implant that performs well in soft and hard bone.
  • NobelSpeedy is one of Nobel Biocare’s best selling implants. Available with both internal and external abutment connections, it is the preferred implant for treating edentulous patients using complete solutions such as All-on-4. NobelSpeedy’s tapered tip allows for underprepared sites in softer bone, and its slightly tapered body offers exceptionally high initial stability in all bone conditions.
