What is the Inman Aligner?
The Inman Aligner is a fast acting orthodontic system that can realign crooked or misaligned teeth in up to 6 weeks. There are some limitations to the results that can be achieved with the aligner and it only works on upper and lower front teeth.
The Inman Aligner is a simple removable device that is placed over misshaped teeth, similar to a mouthguard. There are “bows” at the front of the aligner which apply pressure to the front teeth. This pressure is generated by coiled springs which are found towards the middle and back of the aligner. The gentle pressure has been proved to straighten front teeth. The process varies but should take between 6 – 18 weeks.
What does the process involve?
Visit an inman aligner certified dentist in your area. Click to find and compare dentists who fit the inman aligner in your area (please note we have not checked if they are certified). The dentist will take impressions of your teeth which will be sent to the lab to make a custom fitted aligner. After a few weeks you can call back to have it fitted. You will need to wear the aligner for 16 – 20 hours per day and check-ups are required every 2 – 3 weeks. it is recommended that you wear a retention device while sleeping after the treatment has finished.
What are the advantages of the Inman Aligner?
- The Inman Aligner acts faster than invisible brace systems. It can achieve results in 6 weeks but you need to realistic with your expectations. A dentist will be able to advise about realistic timeframes for you.
- It is cheaper than invisible braces
- Only one aligner is need for the entire treatment. You will still need to visit the dentist to check your progress.
- The aligner is removable which makes cleaning and eating easier.
What are the disadvantages of the Inman Aligner?
- The Inman Aligner is designed to work quickly. It is a more cosmetic fix which focuses on the front teeth only. As a result it may not work if there is a large degree of realignment required.
- The Inman Aligner is not as discreet as invisible brace systems like Invisalign.
How much does it cost?
